The Yamaha 450 hp outboard is the top-of-the-line V8 XTO Offshore engine, a flagship model designed for large, heavy offshore boats. It is available in the signature Yamaha gray, as well as pearlescent white. This engine is built with advanced technology and features for extreme power, durability, and control.

Key features

Engine: At its heart is a 5.6-liter naturally aspirated V8 with a 32-valve DOHC design. It is the first four-stroke outboard to use a direct fuel injection system, which sprays fuel directly into the combustion chamber at high pressure for better fuel burn, power, and efficiency.
Construction: Plasma-fused sleeveless cylinders are 60% harder and significantly lighter than steel, which allows for increased displacement without increasing the powerhead size. Dual overhead camshafts are driven by a self-tensioning chain that is immersed in an oil bath for precision and low maintenance.
Integrated Digital Electric Steering (DES): This steer-by-wire system is integrated into the engine, eliminating external hydraulic lines and pumps. It provides faster, more precise, and responsive steering while creating a cleaner rigging area.
Helm Master® EX Compatibility: The F450 is fully compatible with Yamaha's Helm Master EX boat control system, allowing for advanced functions like joystick control and autopilot.
Charging Power: A Phase Angle Control (PAC) charging system can produce up to 96 net amps at idle for a single engine. This high output meets the demand of power-intensive electronics like gyro stabilizers, air conditioning, and premium sound systems.
Thrust Enhancing Reverse Exhaust (TERE): This system redirects exhaust gases away from the propeller below 2,500 rpm for cleaner water, resulting in stronger reverse thrust and enhanced low-speed maneuverability.
In-Water Gear Lube Servicing: The lower unit has a system that allows for gear lube changes while the boat is in the water, simplifying maintenance for larger boats that may be difficult to trailer.
