The Yamaha 4.2L V6 Offshore 300 hp is a four-stroke outboard motor known for its high power-to-weight ratio, reliability, and advanced technology. As part of Yamaha's V6 Offshore line, it features a large displacement engine block that delivers impressive torque and acceleration. The "gray" refers to Yamaha's signature engine color. 

• Engine: The 4.2-liter, 60° V6 power unit uses plasma-fused, sleeveless cylinder walls, making them harder than steel for increased displacement and less weight.
• Digital Electric Steering (DES): Many modern versions of this engine come with integrated digital electric steering, which eliminates the need for external hydraulic steering pumps and hoses, resulting in a cleaner and more responsive steering system.
• Fuel efficiency: Electronically controlled throttle valves work with a multi-point fuel injection system to optimize the air and fuel mix. The engine also features Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) to maximize power and efficiency across the RPM range.
• Enhanced reverse thrust: Some models include a rerouted exhaust system that directs bubbles away from the propeller in reverse, improving thrust and control when backing up.
• Compatible controls and gauges: The outboard is designed to work with Yamaha's sophisticated Helm Master® EX integrated boat control system, as well as digital and analog gauges.
• Fuel type: The engine is recommended to run on 89 Octane unleaded gasoline.
