In contrast, the digital electronic control (DEC) models use a slightly larger 2.8L displacement, though both engines share many of the same features and are built on the same reliable platform. The 2.7L mechanical F150 is a durable and reliable workhorse for a wide range of boats.

  • Engine: A 2.7L, 16-valve, Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) inline four-cylinder powerhead with Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI).
  • Proven reliability: The engine block has a decades-long track record of durability and has been refined over many years. It inspired the 2.8L F200.
  • Mechanical control (MEC): The 2.7L version uses traditional cable-based mechanical controls, making it a great option for repowering older boats without needing to upgrade to digital controls.
